In this drainage three hours south of Esquel, we fish several lakes and the Rio Pico. The superproductive Lakes 1-5, situated on a plateau close to the border with Chile, are rich with aquatic vegetation, macroinvertebrate life, and large hard fighting rainbows and browns. Fish from 5-10 pounds are taken on dries, nymphs, and streamers. We stay in rustic lakeside cabins which offer a hot shower, warm bed, and indoor bathroom, and eat in the quincho, barbecue house, next door. We recommend Rio Pico for the angler in search of large trout in a remote region of Patagonia.
